The new EcoPack comes fully hardwired, so it does not have the plug-in leads that many older packs use. Hardwiring gives you a much more secure connection and reduces long-term issues.
If your old pack had plugs in the side, you will need to cut the plug off each wire and crimp on connectors before you can hook up your equipment.
This guide walks you through it.
What you will need
- A crimping tool
- Wire strippers
- Spade connectors sized to your wire
- Ring terminals (loops) sized to your wire, if you are installing the heater
Steps
- Turn off power to your spa at the breaker before you start.
- Cut the plug off the end of each wire coming from your pumps and other equipment.
- Strip back the end of each wire so the bare copper is exposed.
- Crimp a spade connector onto the end of each wire.
- Find the wiring diagram on the back of the lid of the EcoPack.
- Use the diagram to see where each wire connects, and attach each spade connector to its terminal.
- If you are installing the heater, crimp a loop (ring terminal) onto the wire so it can connect to the heater wires.
220 V components
If you have a 220 V component such as a pump, the white wire is the common line, which has power all the time.
The black wire is low speed.
The red wire is high speed.
